Balance daylight with the privacy you actually need

Clear glass preserves a view across the room. Frosted, patterned or partially screened glazing changes that view, but the result depends on lighting and viewing distance. A panel that looks private in a bright showroom may reveal silhouettes when a darker corridor faces a lit room.

Use a sample at the intended height. View it from a standing position, a dining chair and the office desk. Repeat the check with lights on in the evening. This simple review helps you decide whether to obscure the full panel, a central band or only a particular sightline.

Visual privacy and sound privacy are separate requirements. Glass selection alone does not describe how an installed door handles conversation. Panel edges, meeting stiles, the floor gap and the surrounding wall all matter. Specify safety and access as part of the doorway

Coordinate the finished floor level before approving the frame. A floor guide or threshold drawn against an unfinished slab can end up in the wrong position after flooring is laid. Also check that handles remain reachable when a sliding leaf is parked, and that opening the panel does not create a finger trap against nearby cabinetry.
